Description
Oil-well cements are used for oil-well grouting, sometimes called oil-well cementing. They consist of either portland or blended cements, plus additives. Oil-well cement must be slow-setting and able to withstand the high temperatures and pressures of these deep wells.
Oilwell Cement is intended for use in the oil and gas industry and its main function is to make wells function properly. It plays a significant role in improving productivity and efficiency of the drilling operations. The various reasons for using cement between the casing and the wellbore include:
- It creates isolation between the zones.
- It offers structural support to the well.
- It protects the well from corrosion.
- It acts as a hydraulic seal.
