The EPIRB Hydrostatic Release Unit (HRU) is one of important lifesaving equipment in the ship, when theEPIRB enclosure is submerged then before it reaches 4 meters deep the HRU activate and release the EPIRBwhich float to the surface and switch on automatically.
(Storage Validity): 1year since manufacture
(Working Validity): 2 years since installation
The storage validity should be confirmed before installation, and HRU expiry date must be markedaccording to below mentioned method, then insert the HRU release rod into mounting hole on EPIRB andfixed to the shell of EPIRB with 2 pcs screws in packing. The safety pin then inserted into the hole of HRUrelease rod and secured.
Before installing HRu-3, the expiry date must be marked, The HRU-3 has a 2 years in-service life whichstarts as soon as it gets exposure to a marine environment. A date 2 years into the future should be markedon the HRU body by cutting out the corresponding dates on its label.
