Buffer is a device that provides the final safety protection for the elevator, and is generally installed in the bottom pit of the elevator shaft, located directly below the car and counterweight. When the elevator is running up or down, it may rush to the bottom or top of the terminal floor due to accidental braking failure. The buffer provides a buffer to prevent the elevator car or counterweight from hitting the bottom or top to protect passengers and equipment.

According to the speed state, the buffer can be divided into energy dissipation buffer (represented by oil buffer) and energy storage buffer (represented by v<=1.0m/s, polyurethane buffer).
